Lot: 65 "Samuel / Smith / 1731" Sealed Black Glass Wine Bottle, England, circa 1731. Cylindrical mallet form, dark olive green, sheared mouth with applied string rim - pontil scar, ht. 7 3/4 inches, base dia. 5 3/4 inches; (7/8 inch chip on edge of mouth, approximately 50% of the string rim has been broken away, 5/16 inch chip on edge of seal, moderate exterior high point wear). Form similar to AG plate 20, seal similar to ASB pg. 695 A scarce bottle which is unlisted in Burton's text. Attractive surface swirls wind their way around the body and neck.
